Healthcare
Speaker Pelosi and the liberals in Congress just passed an almost trillion dollar healthcare bill that raises taxes, kills jobs, and buries our children in debt. In Congress, I’ll vote to repeal the healthcare bill, and work to pass common sense reforms that lower healthcare costs and improve access to care without hurting the economy.
Energy
Southwestern Pennsylvania contains the solution to the nation’s energy needs. Our coal and natural gas resources will power America and create jobs for the region. In Congress, I’ll work to create jobs in Pennsylvania’s energy industry, fight-off harmful legislation like cap-and-trade, and stop the EPA from killing coal jobs through over regulation.
Government Spending
The current rate of government spending is unsustainable and Washington is doing nothing to address it. The endless government bailouts and handouts need to end and Congress needs to get its fiscal house in order. In Congress, I’ll work to produce a budget that protects the future well-being of our children and grandchildren.
National Defense
America must be vigilant against our enemies. In Congress, I’ll never stop working to keep America safe from terrorists, and will always work to protect and fund our servicemen and women
Transportation and Infrastructure
The transportation needs of Southwestern Pennsylvania have long been neglected. In Congress, I’ll work to reauthorize the expired Surface Transportation Act to fund highway and bridge construction, investing In infrastructure that creates real jobs and grows the economy.
Social Conservative
I am pro-life and believe there is no question that life begins at conception. But, I don’t think saying you are pro-life is good enough. I think we need to provide and encourage viable alternatives to abortion and work to decrease the number of unwanted pregnancies in the first place. I believe that Marriage should be defined as a union between a man and a woman.
Gun Rights
As a lifelong gun owner and member of the NRA, I believe in the 2nd Amendment and Americans right to defend themselves.
Illegal Immigration
We have to get tough on illegal immigration. Not only is this imperative for our national security while we are in the midst of a war on terror, but also because the millions of illegals impose a tremendous strain on our struggling economy. We must make it difficult, if not impossible, for people to come to this country illegally. That means completing the fence that Congress authorized years ago. It also means we must stop giving people an incentive to come here illegally. We CANNOT continue granting illegals amnesty - I am against any form of amnesty for people who come here illegally. Lastly, I believe that children born here from parents who are here illegally should NOT be granted citizenship status.
