Up Close and Personal
The most important two people in Tim's life are his sons, Brock and Trent. In fact, they are the reason he decided to run for Congress (more here).
Both boys play hockey and Tim is their coach. Brock recently started to referee as well as play. Between games and practice the Burns family is at a rink almost daily.
Tim volunteers some of his time to helping children with special needs. He was the Director of the "Amazing Bike Camp" program in 2008, where children with disabilities and special needs were taught to ride regular two wheel bicycles independently.
The Burns family's special project is called "The Rink of Dreams". It is a skating program for kids with special needs. Each child is paired with a volunteer. Skates, helmets and pads are provided for the kids.
Kids and adults have a great time. The truth be told, the volunteers have every bit as much fun as the kids.
Summer vacations usually consist of taking the kids to explore some of the wonders of this great country of ours.
