What others have to say about
Tim Burns

Tim is someone who encourages you to be a better person. In the short time that I have known Tim, our discussions inevitably return to how to assist or enrich the lives of challenged children.
I have personally have volunteered at several of Tim's skating events, and can assure you, the world is a better place with Tim. From a political standpoint, I believe Tim will lead with heart. He will back his promises and will not sway because other politicians believe "that's the way it should be done." The community benefits from having Tim in residence just as Washington will!
Diane C. Gardner

We are so grateful that Tim took his time to provide a day of joy and happiness for many children of special needs. Kristen and I thoroughly enjoyed our "Lake of Dreams" day. The interaction with other children and families was very beneficial and served to enhance the lives of all who participated. Thanks Tim for the kindness and consideration you dedicated for a very special group of children. Hope to participate again next year. Sincerely,
Kristen and Terry Bennett

I have known Tim for about 7 - 8 years or so. He volunteered to be on our board of directors for Childhood Apraxia of Speech Association of North America and has served for that entire time as a board member. Tim Burns is a caring and loyal individual and community member. He has strived to do whatever we have requested him to do. ...He is a totally honest individual, more so than most people that I have ever met. He says what he thinks. You never have to wonder whether or not you know how he stands and I find that totally refreshing in this day and age. He has extreme integrity and I admire that completely. Tim also has a very sound business sense. He has helped to guide our organization and to assist us to run it as a business, and in doing so has helped us survive nearly 10 years. This is atypical for nonprofit organizations. Tim's business advice and guidance truly helped us. Also, among the things that I have admired about Tim is his ability to do what he sets out to do. If he has a goal, he develops a plan and her pursues that goal. He is totally focused on achieving whatever he aims to achieve. I am proud to call him a friend. Despite our political differences, Tim and I have a good friendship that I value immensely.

Tim truly a good person and whether we agree on all political matters or not, I truly believe that someone like Tim, with his ethics and character, belongs in Congress. Tim's generosity has brought such joy to our family during a difficult year. We are truly blessed to consider him a friend and a role model for our children. Sue Freiburger

Tim opened his heart and home and dedicated his skills to help children with special needs learn to ride two-wheeled bicycles, ice skate and to enjoy a summer afternoon learning to fish. He did all of this with no expectation except to see the end result - - many smiles and much joy on the faces of the children, their parents and the many of Tim's friends who volunteered their time to help our kids."

Tim Burns Republican Candidate for Congress

On April 27, 2009, Tim Burns declared his candidacy for Congress for Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District.

Even after starting his own business, Tim never had aspirations for public office. But as a businessman, father and community volunteer, he has seen first-hand the value of hard work over handouts. In announcing his candidacy, he stated, "We need to get away from looking to the government to solve all of our problems. Instead we need to force them to solve theirs. We need to stop the bailouts and handouts, and need to balance the budget and ensure that our children will inherit a strong America, not a bankrupt one. I know how to create jobs, make a payroll, meet a budget, and stay out of debt. I am running to restore this forgotten, commonsense value to Washington."

Tim Burns was raised, educated and lives in Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District.  He grew up in the Hornerstown section of Johnstown (Cambria County) and graduated from Johnstown High School in 1986.  In 1990, Tim obtained his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (Indiana, County).

In 1992, after graduating college, Tim started his own pharmacy technology company in the basement of his house, that improved the process of filling prescription with greater accuracy and grew it to over 400 employees before selling it in 2003.  Tim’s business background and work in health care technology make him uniquely qualified to help our nation increase access to quality, affordable health care without raising taxes, and bring business sense to the government.

Since selling his company in 2003, Tim has been active in economic development projects in Southwestern Pennsylvania as an advisor and entrepreneur.  He has also volunteered his time helping flood victims in Sharpsburg (Allegheny County), traveling to Mississippi to provide aid to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, volunteering at a local hospice and directing a youth camp for special needs children. Tim serves on the Board of Directors for the Childhood Apraxia of Speech Association of North America (CASANA).

Tim Burns’ commitment to conservative values, smaller government, lower taxes, an end to wasteful spending and restoring an ethical standard in public service make him the best choice to be the Republican nominee for Congress in the 12th Congressional District.   Tim’s life experience growing up and attending school in the 12th Congressional District as well as being a father, entrepreneur, successful businessman and community leader, make him uniquely qualified to serve as our next Congressman.

Tim is a resident of Eighty Four, PA (Washington County) where he enjoys spending time with his two sons Brock Christian (13) and Trent Matthew (11).  He attends St. Benedict Catholic Church in Peters Twp. (Washington County).
